British surgeon describes having to operate on two sisters with devastating injuries
A British surgeon working in Gaza has described operating on two sisters after they suffered devastating injuries.
Dr Victoria Rose is part of a team of British surgeons and doctors working at Nasser hospital, which has the only working ICU left in Gaza.
“We’ve been watching jets screech past our heads and then drop bombs on the neighbouring vicinity, so it’s all a bit high anxiety here and the internet has gone down which always makes people worry,” she told Sky News.
One of her patients is a seven-year-old girl, who has been left with a blast injury on her left cheek, shoulder and knee.
“I’ve just been picking bits of shrapnel out of it and trying to get it as clean as we can,” she explained.
Before that operation, the girl’s sister, five, needed treatment after losing 90% of skin on her arm.
