A TV star whose series scooped up an award at the Emmys wasn’t present at the ceremony to celebrate.
Instead, he was surrounded by – in his words – ‘poop water’ after an unfortunate incident.
In 2022, Matt Steele starred in the Ryan Murphy Netflix series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, with Evan Peters playing the titular real-life serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
Matt played the supporting role of Duane in episode six, with the actor posting behind-the-scenes snaps on Instagram from his time on the popular and controversial drama, revealing the ‘creepy’ vision board that the costumer created.
The performer, who co-hosts a YouTube channel and podcast called Two Gay Matts, revealed in a post shared on X that when Dahmer star Niecy Nash was receiving her Emmy Award for her performance as Glenda Cleveland, his own situation was worlds away from the glitz and glam of the awards ceremony.
Sharing a picture of himself perched next to a cash register with Niecy on the TV during her acceptance speech, he wrote: ‘Tonight at my restaurant job we had to shut down because a pipe burst in the bathroom, and poop water went everywhere while a show I was in won an Emmy.’

One person called Rohita pointed out the irony of the situation, responding: ‘The Glamour of Hollywood.’
Another X user who goes by the handle @unfriendlypetty dubbed Matt an ‘icon’.
In September 2022, the actor announced his role on Dahmer by sharing a mirror selfie that he took while on set, writing in the captino: ‘Who’s got a sexy pair of loafers and a supporting role in Episode 6 of Dahmer on Netflix? Probably a few people… But one of those people is me! 😱
‘Thank you @jacksonentertainmentmanagement for all that you do! ❤️ Check out @monsterdahmerstory – available to stream NOW!’
Strangely enough, Matt’s tale isn’t the only poo-related story to have led to astonishment as of late.

David Baddiel recently revealed that his family were on ‘high alert’ after he lost his faeces, as he’d misplaced his stool sample.
After placing the sample in a tube and a protective bag, it mysteriously went missing – and so his family were warned to keep a lookout just in case it reappeared.
When the Netflix drama about Dahmer was released, it was watched by millions across the globe while also stoking controversy.
Viewers said that they felt ‘sick to their stomach’ watching the series, while the show was accused of ‘glamourising’ Dahmer’s horrific murders.
Despite families of victims speaking out against the programme, creator Ryan defended it, saying that they were ‘always thinking about the victims’.
‘It’s something that we researched for a very long time,’ he said. ‘And we, over the course of the three, three and a half years when we were really writing it, working on it, we reached out to 20, around 20 of the victims’ families and friends trying to get input, trying to talk to people and not a single person responded to us in that process,’ he said in October 2022.
‘So we relied very, very heavily on our incredible group of researchers who… I don’t even know how they found a lot of this stuff. But it was just like a night and day effort to us trying to uncover the truth of these people.’
Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is available to watch on Netflix.
