Ex-President Donald Trump’s eldest daughter Ivanka is being forced to testify against him so ‘we can have another circus day’, his lawyer argued.
Trump attorney Christopher Kise sounded off after Judge Arthur Engoron denied a motion from Ivanka’s lawyers to dismiss a subpoena for her testimony in the New York civil fraud case.
Kise asked Engoron to allow Ivanka to give a deposition from Florida, where she resides. Lawyers for Trump and Ivanka argued that she has not lived or worked in New York since 2017 and that the court therefore does not have jurisdiction over her.
‘We want her here in person,’ said Engoron on Friday.
Kise accused Attorney General Letitia James of subpoenaing Ivanka to make a spectacle out of it.
‘They just want another free-for-all on one of President Trump’s children,’ Kise said. ‘They want her in the courtroom so it can be filled with media and we can have another circus day.’
Kise added that the subpoena represents ‘continued harassment of President Trump’s children’.
