Pressure mounts on transport firms to make Covid-19 masks mandatory
The Times says the mayor of London has announced that masks will still be required on the Tube when laws making them mandatory are dropped next week, putting pressure on transport operators and retailers across the country to follow suit.
Sadiq Khan said keeping masks as a condition of travel on most of the city’s transport network would “reassure” passengers. However, rail companies said they would only ask customers to wear a mask if services were busy, suggesting the policy would not be enforced as “train travel is low-risk”.
