Tottenham are still interested in signing Conor Gallagher in January, with Chelsea willing to accept offers they consider appropriate for the midfielder.
Spurs were pushing to sign the England international over the summer and reportedly got close to doing so, agreeing parts of a deal to bring him to north London.
However, amid the many changes at Stamford Bridge over the summer, Gallagher’s impressive start to the season saw the Blues keep hold of the homegrown talent.
The 23-year-old has continued to be an important part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side, making 20 appearances in all competitions so far this season, but Chelsea will let him go if a big bid comes in.
Gallagher only has 18 months left on his contract so Chelsea are expecting to sell him at some point in 2024, unless he pens a new deal, and will be happy to do so in January as they look to raise funds to buy a striker.
Sky Sports report that Tottenham’s interest in the midfielder has not dimmed and they could make another move for him, although that will depend on their business elsewhere.
Ange Postecoglou has already stated that centre-back is the club’s priority in January as they have been struggling with injury at the heart of defence, with Ben Davies filling in.
If they are to sign a midfielder then Spurs may have to offload players, with Pierre-Emile Hojberg a possible outgoing, with Juventus interested.
