Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is expected to miss at least two-and-a-half months of action with an ankle injury.
The 26-year-old had recently returned to action after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury last season.
However, he limped out of Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa after a tackle from Matty Cash, which saw the defender given a yellow card.
Spurs are already without eight first-team players, with the likes of James Maddison and Richarlison suffering with injuries.

But Bentancur’s absence is particularly galling given he has just returned to fitness and scan results indicate he will miss at least ten weeks of action.
Spurs face Manchester City at the Etihad this weekend, and Ange Postecoglou will be desperately hoping to get some bodies back for the trip.
