The Independent’s lead story reports that the chancellor is facing backlash since her “much criticised” trip to China. The paper says Rachel Reeves’s management of the economy is now under question from chief financial officers at some of the UK’s largest firms (according to a survey).
A large image of California’s governor Gavin Newson makes the front page. The paper quotes him as saying he wants to know “what the hell happened” as Los Angeles continues to burn.
