A man who snatched a toddler from her mum which resulted in the young girl losing her toe has been jailed.
Martin Enow, 24, grabbed the 18-month-old girl from her mum in Bolton, Greater Manchester, on February 21 this year.
He grabbed the girl by her neck and tried to run ‘while holding her upside down’, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed.
The mum was with her other child at the time and tried to grab her daughter back as she struggled with the man.
A passer-by then intervened and restrained Enow so the mum could grab her daughter back, who was bleeding heavily from her foot.
Another passer-by stopped their car and left their child in the passenger seat so they could intervene and help.
Enow then jumped into this car but didn’t have the keys so fled from the scene.
A taxi had stopped nearby so he jumped into the back of the vehicle and asked the driver to take him to a football stadium.

The taxi driver refused and locked Enow in the back of the car until police officers arrived.
Enow was ‘experiencing a psychotic episode at the time’, the CPS confirmed.
The toddler had to have an operation on her foot as a result of the incident and she also suffered with a broken arm.
Enow pleaded guilty to kidnap and inflicting grievous bodily harm and has been jailed for four years.
Gerry Crawford from the CPS said: ‘This was a terrifying incident which encapsulates every parent’s worst nightmare.
‘It is thanks to the quick thinking of the child’s mum, the good samaritans and the taxi driver, that Martin Enow was stopped before any further harm could occur to either the child or himself.
‘We understand that Martin Enow was suffering with a mental health condition when he committed this offence. I hope that following the conclusion of the case the child’s family will have some sense of closure and that they can now begin to put what happened behind them.’
