Today’s news summary – Paper Talk
There’s a variety of stories related to the ongoing war in Ukraine that is dominating Tuesday’s front pages. Britain opening its doors to refugees, a missile attack that reportedly killed three Brits and Russian oligarchs are among the most popular.

Both the i , the Sun and the Daily Mail report on Britain ‘opening homes to refugees’. The papers report on the public’s generosity, with the Mail saying 44,000 ‘caring’ people sign up to join the new scheme and it’s only on day one. The Sun’s front page says the “nation rallies against Putin” and “big-hearted Brits” with their “incredible generosity crashed the Homes for Ukraine appeal website in its first two hours”.
The Daily Express and the Daily Mirror both report on three British ex-special forces being killed in ‘missile hell’. The Mirror reports the three Brits were caught up in an attack that left more than 100 dead.
The Financial Times leads with a claim by US officials that China has signalled a willingness to provide Russia with military support. Whilst the Daily Telegraph leads with its exclusive article from the PM who said the “west made a terrible mistake with Putin.” following the Russian invasion of Crimea in 2014 – the west continued to reply on Russian oil and gas despite the invasion.
The Metro reports on the “liberation” of a Russian oligarch’s £50m London home – a group of protesters stormed the building and invites refugees to move in. The centralist paper is reporting on the oligarchs who have been hit by sanctions – including Putin’s reported ‘favourite industrialist.’
The Times leads with an image of Roman Abramovich – Russian oligarch and owner of Chelsea FC – as he sits at an airport in Istanbul. The paper claims he is part of a £2billion organised crime scam.
Left-leaning The Guardian reports on Russia’s ‘deadly raids’ plunging Ukrainians into a nightmare. The front page features an image of an employee who burst on the set shouting “stop the war” – she has been arrested.
