It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas with Disney Plus dropping the first trailer for The Santa Clause TV series spin-off starring Tim Allen.
The classic film trilogy follows divorced dad Scott Calvin (Tim) as he accidentally causes the death of Santa and must step into his sleigh and save the festive season.
The mini-series, titled The Santa Clauses, will pick up where the cult classics end and will see a newly retired Scott considering his future as the man in the red suit.
In the first-look trailer, a tired-looking Scott is seen struggling down a chimney to deliver presents when he accidentally intrudes on a woman watching TV, who screams at the stranger in her home.
She exclaims: ‘Who are you?’, to which a confused Scott says: ‘I’m Santa Claus.’
After another scene sees Saint Nick falling down a rooftop, Scott is seen telling his children that ‘for the good of Christmas’ he is retiring.
‘I think we should see what the rest of the world is like as normal people,’ he continues, while his wife Carol Calvin (Elizabeth Mitchell) nods.

Shaving off Santa’s iconic white beard and billowing hair, and opting for casual PJs, Scott shocks his daughter and son with his festive-free outfit, before ordering the most epic Pumpkin spiced latte to an overwhelmed barista.
However, as Scott settles into retired life, looking forward to spending his first Xmas with the fam, North Pole goes into meltdown, with his replacement ‘destroying the Christmas spirit.’

Scott then has a massive change of heart, confessing he’d ‘retired too soon and hired the wrong guy’ before going back to help the elves in the North Pole.
‘Christmas is in trouble, let’s go,’ Scott says, wasting no time in getting back to Lapland. But has he left it too late?
