Three weather warnings in place after UK shivered through -10°C temperatures overnight

Britain has woken up to three yellow weather warnings for snow and ice after temperatures plummeted to -10°C overnight.

There are three yellow weather warnings in place from the Met Office, one for snow and ice which stretches down from Scotland to East Anglia.

This in place until 10am and a new yellow weather warning for in Cumbria and south west Scotland has been issued until 11am.

This could create hazards for commuters as there will be icy stretches on the roads.

Another warning for snow and ice in northern Scotland and the Shetlands will also be in place until 10am.

The Met Office said: ‘Frost and fog slowly lifting in most areas leaving a dry, but cold day with sunny spells.

‘However, showers will continue to affect the west and far north, some wintry.’

Temperatures will not reach above freezing levels this morning, with some waking up to -4°C air.

But by mid-afternoon those living on the south coast of England will be enjoying warmer temperatures at 8°C

Snow hit south-west England, parts of Yorkshire, the north east and Scotland – and more is on the way, according to forecasters.

Temperatures of between -3°C to -6°C have been recorded across most of the nation.
