BBC journalist Ben Brown found himself in an uncomfortable situation after being stuck in a lift for more than an hour.

Moments before the unfortunate incident, the news presenter announced that Rishi Sunak was appointed as the next Prime Minister.

However, Brown sparked concern when he took to social media and shared a selfie of himself trapped in the work elevator.

‘One hour and counting stuck in this BBC lift – I’ve been promised rescue teams are on the way but no sign of them yet,’ he tweeted.

In a bid to pass time, Brown updated fans every couple of minutes with one curious person asking whether he had decent background music to listen to.

‘Radio One – starting to drive me mad,’ he quipped.

Radio One host Greg James hilariously clapped back: ‘I’ll give you a shoutout if you’re still there at 7am.’

If that wasn’t bad enough, Brown later tweeted that an engineer was on its way, but the plot twist was that they were stuck in traffic ‘and will be another hour.’

Several clearly felt sorry for the broadcaster as people left a lot of follow-up questions for Brown to answer.

‘Have you got any snacks,’ one person asked, to which Brown simply responded ‘no.’

‘When are you on air??? 8?’ another queried.

‘Not till tomorrow morning – at this rate I may not make it!’ Brown replied.

However, the star finally broke free and took to Twitter to thank his followers for their growing concern.

‘BREAKING NEWS: I’m free!!’ he wrote.

Secretary of State Michael Gove also found himself in a similar predicament at the beginning of the year, after he was booked in for an 8.10am slot on BBC news but was delayed after being stuck for 30 minutes.
