Three arrests have been made after reports of a man allegedly trying to ‘grab’ children near a school in Surrey.

A ‘white van’ was central to two incidents.

Maiken Walter, headteacher of Woking High School, passed a warning on from police to parents.

In a letter, seen by SurreyLive, she wrote: ‘We have been informed by the police that a student from Woking High School has reported that an adult male in a white van tried to grab him this afternoon on his way home.

‘The police are investigating the incident and they have advised that children, parents and carers walking to and from school in Horsell are extra vigilant over the coming days. ‘

It comes as another school in Woking, Bishop David Brown School, warned parents of a similar situation after two students were approached.

Again, the stranger had been driving a white van, police say.

When contacted, Surrey Police directed Metro.co.uk to a Facebook post which confirmed new developments had been made in the case.

The trio, from Hayes, Middlesex, were arrested yesterday in connection with the incident.

Two of them remain in custody, and another has been released on police bail with conditions not to enter the borough of Woking.

Inspector Nell Rodriguez, Borough Commander for Woking, said: ‘Our investigation into this incident remains ongoing as we continue to follow all lines of enquiry to understand what has taken place.

‘We are also aware of separate reports of a man in a van shouting comments to two other school children on Walton Road in Maybury.

‘The two reports are not currently being treated as linked, although we continue to investigate both reports with an open mind.

‘We would advise parents to remind children that they should always call 999 if they ever feel that something around them isn’t quite right. Their report will always be taken incredibly seriously and we need to know straightaway so we can respond as quickly as possible.

‘Officers remain in the area today, with additional patrols taking place around school opening and closing times. We will provide further updates on the investigation as soon as we are able to.’
