Already looking to plan a 2024 getaway? For all those eager beavers who want to get things in the diary ASAP, this seaside town has already been crowned the UK’s top trending destination for next year.
In analysing search data from Brits, travel experts at Airbnb determined the trending hotspots across the UK for 2024. And, surprise surprise, the gorgeous Brighton & Hove came up trumps in the top spot.
Affectionately regarded as ‘London on sea,’ Brighton & Hove is a seaside destination with added quirks. There’s culture everywhere, from hearty brunch places in the famous Lanes to the historic Royal Pavilion, a Grade I-listed structure designed by John Nash in the nineteenth century.
With a thriving LGBTQ+ scene, each and every summer Brighton & Hove hosts its famous Pride Festival, with queer institutions like The Queens Arms and Affinity Bar hosting days-long parties to mark the occasion.
And there’s an impressive display of caffeine hotpots, from Small Batch to Wolfox, both locally famous names that pour an excellent cup of Joe.
If you’re looking for an amble around the countryside, too, Devil’s Dyke is a breathtaking spot on the South Downs. It’s the largest dry valley in the UK, but beware: this is an incredibly hilly hike.
Elsewhere, the stunning Isle of Skye in Scotland secured second place, with Bath and North East Somerset following closely behind.
And, with 2024 set to be a huge year for live music, Stratford in London came in fourth place – hello, Foo Fighters fans – and Wembley, AKA the future home of Taylor Swift, in seventh place, as gig goers look for accommodation after seeing their faves IRL.
The top 10 trending UK cities for 2024, as determined by Airbnb, are as follows:
Brighton and Hove, England
Isle of Skye, Scotland
Bath and North East Somerset, England
Stratford, England
Ayr, Scotland
Stratford, England

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside…
