This Morning host Rochelle Humes has broken down hearing how a group of boys decided to shave their hair to support their friend with cancer.
On Wednesday’s episode of the ITV breakfast programme, Rochelle and co-host Craig Doyle were introduced to Harry, a nine-year-old who was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer after suffering what he first thought was a football injury.
Appearing on the show with his dad Andy, the pair spoke about how the diagnosis came about.
Playing sport at school one day with his friends, Harry said he felt something in his leg ‘pull or crack open’ when he kicked the ball.
While his dad assumed it was a football related injury at first, after a week of seeing his son limping, they took him to a physiotherapist.
Two weeks later Harry was fine again, but then the limp came back, and they eventually went to a knee surgeon for a check-up.

Within a few hours of a MRI scan, a specialist told them it appeared a tumour had ‘burst out’ of Harry’s leg and everything ‘snowballed from there’.
‘It was awful and then seeing the scan and being told it was an aggressive rare cancer….and Harry didn’t know at that point,’ Andy recalled.
‘That was an awful and difficult two weeks as a parent.’
Harry said he was ‘scared’ by what he was eventually told, but after sharing with his friends he was also going to lose his hair, they all rallied behind him.
A group of 12 boys came together to shave their hair and raise money for charity, with their total now totalling over £30,000.

Some of them also appeared on the show, with Samuel, Isaac, Stanley, Archie and George explaining why they wanted to support their friend.
After one of them said they ‘never wanted Harry to be alone’, Rochelle started tearing up and told the boys they were sparking ‘happy tears’.
‘I have the tears coming,’ she exclaimed.
Soon after she apologised after becoming emotional again.
‘Sorry, it’s just such a beautiful story of gorgeous friends and I think we could all learn something from you,’ she added.
Jumping in to lighten the mood, Craig joked: ‘Look what you boys have done to Rochelle.’
She then joked it ‘wasn’t the plan’ for her to become so affected while hearing their story.
Looking forward, Andy said his son had completed five of his 18 chemotherapy sessions, and had been touched by the boy’s thoughtfulness.
‘It’s a big thing and the fact these boys wanted to do this. As a parent it’s great to see my son has friends around him like this.’
As the segment came to an end, Craig and Rochelle also threw their support behind the boys and offered a donation of £2,500 to their fundraiser.
This Morning airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1.
