This Morning fans were left scratching their heads after a BBC star ignored all questions during a ‘cringe’ interview.
Gladiator Viper was having none of Dermot O’Leary and Josie Gibson’s chatter on today’s (Tuesday January 16) ITV show and remained stoney-faced as they grilled him about the show’s successful reboot.
As they gently asked him questions including comparisons to original Gladiator Wolf, Viper continually refused to respond, leading Dermot to jokingly yelp: ‘Oh Viper, meet us halfway buddy.’
Viewers on Twitter were left baffled by Viper’s death stare, with Sean declaring: ‘This has to be one of the most awkward interviews of the year. The first guy is boring and very cocky. Why’s he always pouting? #thismorning.’
Echoing Sean’s sentiment, Maria added: ‘Why’s this muppet not speaking, just get off the show lol.’
‘This is cringe #ThisMorning,’ Kelly succinctly summarised.

However, some fans pointed out that Viper, who was joined by fellow Gladiators Legend and Fury, was simply in character.
‘Clearly nobody understanding that they are in character for this interview #gladiators #thismorning,’ Retroboy explained.
Others loved the show, with Mr Opiniated sharing: ‘These three are hilarious like pantomime.’

After first chatting to Legend, Josie attempted to strike up a conversation with Viper, asking him:’Viper you have been compared to Wolf. How do you feel about that?’
However, her question was just met with an icy glare.
Descending into giggles, Dermot cuddled into Josie and sighed: ‘Oh Viper meet us halfway buddy.’
Refusing to give up, a laughing Josie continued to probe: ‘Did you enjoy the show? Good buzz Saturday night was it?’
Again, Viper responded with silence.
Taking the mick, Dermot then proceeded to joke with Viper if he liked the ‘baddy status’ calling him a series of pet names including ‘Vipes’ and ‘Viparooney.’

You can imagine how that went down.
First broadcast from 1992 to 2000 in the UK on ITV, the original series of Gladiators was presented by Ulrika Jonsson and footballer John Fashanu.
It was briefly brought back between 2008 to 2009 for a short run on Sky, with Kirsty Gallacher and footballer-turned-pundit Ian Wright helming the show.

In 2022, the BBC confirmed they had rebooted Gladiators and later announced Bradley Walsh and his son Barney as hosts.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV and ITVX.
