The results are in and the best new show on Netflix in 2023 has been officially declared.
Black comedy Beef, starring comedian Ali Wong and The Walking Dead actor Steven Yeun, has beaten programmes including new seasons of The Crown and Sex Education, to be named this year’s top watch.
The 10-parter follows perfect strangers Amy Lau (Wong) and Daniel Cho (Yeun) who go to extreme lengths to enact revenge on each other after being involved in a road rage incident.
When it debuted on the streaming platform, Beef got a big thumbs from viewers and now reviews aggregator Rotten Tomatoes has named it Netflix’s best offering from 2023.
The show has earned a near-perfect score – 98% – based on its critical reception, with the site’s consensus stating: ‘Ali Wong and Steven Yeun are a diabolically watchable pair of adversaries in Beef, a prime cut comedy that finds the pathos in pettiness.’
But Beef is far from the only show to have whipped Netflix viewers up in a frenzy, with many recommending a slew of fast-paced and gripping thrillers on X, formerly known, as Twitter.
