This hot young acting couple could be our new James Bond and villain
Among all the James Bond rumours flying about – often focused on favourite for the role, Aaron Taylor-Johnson – there’s the chance for a great casting coup with a young couple.
With it being three years since Daniel Craig retired from the role after No Time To Die in 2021, we’re still clueless as to who could pick up Bond’s licence to kill.
Many contenders have been put forward, including Jonathan Bailey and Theo James.
Not so much has been discussed when it comes to the franchise’s next villain.
However, Irish star Saoirse Ronan, 30, recently shared her desire to portray an antagonist that comes up against 007, calling it a ‘dream role’.
And perhaps with her husband, Slow Horses actor Jack Lowden, also a name that’s been mentioned in the mix for Bond (no doubt helped by the intelligence setting of his hit show) we should be considering a husband and wife team-up for Bond 26?
Or rather a face-off, given their roles.
In a recent interview for the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Saoirse Ronan discussed her possible villain casting in greater detail.
She did admit though that she’s yet to make the pitch to Bond producer Barbara Broccoli directly.
‘I’m afraid to say it to her in person! I know her a little bit,’ the Lady Bird actess admitted to host Josh Horowitz.
When asked what her ‘affectation’ might be as a baddie, such as Emilio Largo’s eye patch or Blofled’s white cat, she suggested ‘a limp’.
‘I don’t know but I’m conscious of being blonde because I feel like a lot of villains in movies, they’re always like, make them super blonde and evil looking,’ she mused.
‘I’d want to break [the trend], but honestly it’s whatever Barbara wants!’
When Horowitz then asked her who she would pick if only she could be the villain or Jack could be Bond, the actress smiled over the tough ask before deciding: ‘He should be Bond. If it’s a choice beween the two.’
‘Isn’t it nice that I’ve done that?’ she then laughed.
Fans in the comments were absolutely seeing them both in the respective Bond roles though.
‘Jack Lowden as James Bond? Absolutely here for it!’ posted @nocturnalanimal85, while @briangaskillofficial agreed, adding: ‘He would be amazing Bond. Although I would prefer it if he was the first Bond that was a little bit bumbling.’
‘On the other hand, though, she would make the best baddie to Henry Cavill’s Bond! I fully realise he is now too old and too committed to other work to have capacity but it’s a great idea!’ suggested @ttbko.
But who’s to say we can’t have both? With official casting yet to be announced, and the next movie ‘at least’ two years away, stranger things could happen.
