Looking for a new job? You’ll want to check out this list of some of the highest-paying positions in the UK right now.

Indeed, the jobs website, has shared some of its insights, listing the top earners and what they do and how flexible their workplaces are.

In case you’re looking for your next gig or just curious how the other half live, the top earner is a principle software engineer.

This is someone who leads engineers who develop and test software. Their salary? £64,189 per year.

Those in the healthcare profession, such as doctors (£61,676) and consultants {£53,805), follow for best paid jobs.

However Indeed didn’t just rank professions with the best salaries, it looked at other factors such as opportunities to progress and flexibility with working styles.

When considering these factors, it found that a project manager, someone who plans and executes projects across different industries, has an average salary of £45,595 while also enjoying other perks such as working from home.

Engineer roles take the second spot with £37,199, while Quantity Surveyor comes in third (£47,360) due to having less work from home flexibility.

Nurse Assessor (£35,866) roles have the lowest average salary, but they have other perks, such as having 82% of roles being available vie remote or hybrid work.

Danny Stacy, senior manager of talent Intelligence at Indeed, said: ‘Indeed’s 2024 best jobs highlight a high demand for several white-collar roles, notably those that can be carried out from home, as many workers look to hold onto the flexibility afforded by remote work, despite an increasing number of employers now looking to encourage their teams back to the office.

‘This is evident in the shifting balance of power towards employers that we’re starting to see amid the ongoing softening of labour demand.’

Danny encourages those looking for a new position to consider their priorities before embarking on a new role.

‘However, we are also seeing persistent skills shortages across both the engineering and construction industries, as well as healthcare, driving many relevant roles to feature on our top 20 list,’ he said.

‘Weighing up what’s important to you in a job, whether that be increased pay or a better work-life balance, will be important for anyone considering a career move in 2024.’

    Good luck.
