Most royals learn French as their second language but Prince George with Princess Charlotte are being taught Spanish and there might be a key reason behind that.

Members of the Royal Family are expected to learn at least one foreign language from their early days, and most of them know more than one.
King Charles is known to speak four languages as, apart from English, he can also speak Welsh, French and German.
The younger members of the Firm, like Prince William and Princess Kate’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, are also expected to follow the same rules.
But whilst most people would expect them to learn French first, as it is the usual second language of the Royal Family, the Wales children are being taught Spanish by Kate.
The late Queen Elizabeth was fluent in French whilst her grandson, William speaks it so well he even calls Charlotte “mignonette”.

But it seems like there’s a very particular reason why Kate chose Spanish to be her children’s second language.
And according to a royal expert, it’s all down to her own personal connections and past experiences.
HELLO!’s online royal correspondent Danielle Stacey said: “Given the fact that George, Charlotte, and Louis will probably carry all out full-time royal duties in future and will meet people from all over the world, it’s no wonder that the Princess of Wales wants her children to be confident linguists.”
She explained that the royal mum may also be keen on the language as she spent time in Chile during her gap year.
Stacey added: “Kate also spent time in Chile on her gap year and no doubt will have picked up some of the language, and of course, it helps that the children have their very own tutor in the form of their [Spanish] nanny Maria, who can help them practice.”

Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo started working for Prince William and Princess Kate in 2014.
Earlier this summer, royal commentator Pauline Maclaran told Express.co.uk how Maria will have a “strong influence” over George, Charlotte and Louis’s development, with an increasingly important role in grounding them as they grow into young people under the spotlight.
Meanwhile, Stacey also suggested that Kate’s willingless for her children to be bilingual may also stem from another one of her experiences with the Italian language.
She said: “During a royal outing in 2018, Kate admitted that her Italian was ‘so bad’ as she stopped to speak to one well-wisher, but she added: ‘I have to make sure my children are better than me, that’s my aim.”
