Oscar-winning film director William Friedkin, best known for his work on The Exorcist and The French Connection, has died aged 87.
Friedkin died on Monday in Los Angeles, his wife Sherry Lansing announced.
Making his mark in a major way during the 1970s, Friedkin won a best director Academy Award for The French Connection, while also scoring a nomination for The Exorcist.
