Daniel Khalife: Terror suspect may have used bedsheet to escape, court hears
Daniel Khalife, 21, may have used bedsheets to escape from Wandsworth prison, a court has been told.
Khalife attended Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
He broke out of prison and led authorities on a UK-wide manhunt for four days last week.
On Saturday he was pulled off a peddle bike on a towpath in Northolt in London. He is accused of escaping from lawful custody.
Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram remanded him in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 29 September.
He is said to have escaped prison via the prison kitchens, where he strapped himself under a food delivery truck using a material which was “made from bedsheets with clips at each end.”
Khalife spoke to confirm his name and date of birth during the eight-minute hearing. His address was given as “of no fixed abode.”
He was bought into court in an armoured police van accompanied by two unmarked cars.
