Two teenage girls aged just 13 and 14 have been arrested after a Jewish woman was the victim of a ‘violent robbery’ in Haringey, North London.
The woman, 20, was approached by two girls on Rostrevor Avenue, a small residential street south of the South Tottenham tube station, who assaulted her and stole her bag at about 4.30pm on Thursday.
A viral video shared by Shomrim, a neighbourhood watch group for the Stamford Hill area, showed the woman being dragged to the floor.
The victim suffered bruising and while she did not need hospital treatment, she was, the Met said, ‘understandably very shaken by the incident’.
The Metropolitan Police arrested two teenagers at about midday yesterday at an address in Haringey, which has a growing orthodox Jewish population.
Officers had combed CCTV footage which suggested the girls were wearing school uniforms, coordinating with local school administrators to identify them.
