Taylor Swift has postponed her next tour show due to ‘extreme temperatures’.

The US star, 33, was due to continue her Eras Tour in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil this weekend.

However, Taylor, her fans, and the loved ones of a Swiftie were left heartbroken yesterday when a concertgoer, aged just 23, died at the gig.

As a result of temperatures continuing to soar, the Grammy winner will be rescheduling her Saturday performance, while will now take place on Monday (November 20).

Taking to social media with a statement, Taylor announced: ‘I’m writing this from my dressing room in the stadium.

‘The decision has been made to postpone tonight’s show due to the extreme temperatures in Rio.’

She continued: ‘The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow performers, and crew has to and always will come first.’

Taylor’s statement follows a devastating turn of events last night.

Organisers, Time4Fun, said this morning that paramedics had attended to fan Ana Clara Benevides Machado at the show and took her to a hospital.

She sadly died an hour later.

While her cause of death has not been officially stated, it was claimed that the devout Taylor fan said she felt ill during the performance at the Nilton Santos stadium.

She fainted and, after being rushed to hospital, is said to have suffered cardiorespiratory arrest.

There was also outrage as fans were reportedly prohibited from taking water into the stadium, despite the raging heat.

The city’s mayor later spoke out and demanded changes before Taylor’s final shows in Rio.

Temperatures on Friday reached around 100 degrees Fahrenheit and firefighters have since announced that roughly 1,000 fans fainted, with others requiring medical attention after vomiting.

Expressing her own sadness, Taylor released a post on social media that read: ‘I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show.

‘I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this.

‘There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.’

She went on: ‘I’m not going to be able to speak about this from stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to think about it.

‘I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends.

Taylor concluded: ‘This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.’
