Wednesday’s UK newspaper front pages offer a variety of headlines with no one story dominating the papers. A handful touch on the migrant channel crossings, in particular Labour’s theory that crossings have risen due to the good weather. But there is little unity across the papers and instead standalone reports ranging from war and conflict to the latest showbiz news. 

Friday’s newspaper front pages cover the fallout from Albania’s rejection of Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s migrant deal. On his first official visit to Albania, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced that the UK is in talks with other countries to establish overseas “return hubs” for failed asylum seekers.

More than a hundred migrants were rescued from an overcrowded fishing vessel that capsized southwest of the Greek port of Pyrgos on Wednesday. At least 78 people have been confirmed dead, making it Greece’s deadliest migrant shipwreck since 2016. However that figure could rise, with estimates of the number on board ranging from 400 to 750.
