Kyiv and Washington set for talks this week in Saudi Arabia, report a handful of broadsheets whilst several tabloids focus on Covid 5 years on – and how the UK marked the event.

Benefit cuts, prison reforms, growing crime in the UK and the sunny weather Britain has enjoyed – all make up the domestic coverage on the front pages. The back pages lead on last night’s Man Utd vs Arsenal, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The sports editors suggest that Arsenal’s failure to win has handed Liverpool the Premier League title. 

Kyiv claims Moscow used chemical weapons near Zaporizhzhia EU

Russian forces used used chemical munitions in the area of Novodanylivka in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast on Sunday, the Ukrainian military said on Monday. “The enemy continues to use chemical munitions, violating all conventions,” said General Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, the commander of the Tavria operational-strategic group of troops. FRANCE 24 correspondent Emmanuelle Chaze explains, adding that this is “nothing new”.

Russia keeps air strikes on Kyiv as NATO meets EU

Zelensky’s fight for NATO membership comes as Ukraine says it shot down eleven Russian drones overnight, a second night in a row of attacks on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. FRANCE 24’s correspondent Emmanuelle Chaze gave us more on reaction from there.
