Donald Trump has issued a challenge to Joe Biden for televised debates as the two contenders head towards a potential rematch for the White House, following their victories in the Super Tuesday votes.

Republican Nikki Haley is set to suspend her presidential campaign this Wednesday, making Donald Trump the last Republican left in the race for the White House. 

US President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump have swept the state primaries this Super Tuesday, according to CBS projections. 

Nominating contests will be held in Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and the US territory of American Samoa.

Americans will head to the polls in November to elect the next US president. 

US President Joe Biden and former US President Donald Trump both won their Michigan primaries but despite the victories, serious concerns have arisen for both campaigns as they head to a likely November rematch.

“My national security advisor tells me that we’re close,” Biden said.

Trump made no mention of Haley as he celebrated, despite her vowing to remain in the race for nomination. 

The Biden administration has revealed plans to forgive $1.2 billion (£949 million) in student debt for 153,000 American borrowers. Previously, President Joe Biden’s initiative to erase student debt for over 40 million Americans was halted by the Supreme Court.

According to the Justice Department, Smirnov’s motivation for providing false statements to the FBI stemmed from his personal dislike of President Biden.
