Article 50 is a Treaty of European Union which states that “Any Member State may decide to withdraw from the Union in accordance with its own constitutional requirements”.
Withdrawal from the European Union is the legal and political process whereby an EU member state ceases to be a member of the Union.
The UK triggered Article 50 on 29 March 2017 which means the UK was due to leave the EU at 11:00 pm on 29 March 2019.
This was extended to October 31st when Theresa May could not get parliament to agree on a withdrawal agreement.
