The Sunday newspaper front pages mostly focus on the England election results as more trickled out on Saturday – including the shock Labour win in the West Midlands mayor and Sadiq Khan winning a third term as London mayor. 

Many of the right-leaning newspapers suggest the results highlight the dire state the Conservative Party is in right now, and contend with a possible Tory wipeout at the upcoming general election. 

A couple of tabloids lead on royal news, including disgraced Prince Andrew and the results of a popularity poll regarding King Charles. 

Many of the back pages lead on Manchester City’s and Arsenal’s latest Premier League wins. Liverpool are in action on Sunday and must win if they have any hopes of winning the title.

It’s been a tough Easter for the Labour Party with 20 councillors across three councils, including the council leader, quitting as they accuse the national party of taking a “draconian” shift and using “bullying tactics.” 

Monday marks a bank holiday in the UK, but politics doesn’t stop and Tory party infighting continues to dominate the front pages. The political drama has led to speculation of whether a snap election will be called this half of the year, and whether the Tory party will oust Rishi Sunak as prime minister before the next general election.

When asked by BBC presenter Jeremy Vine if the speculations were true, Mr Sunak said: ‘I’m not going to say anything extra about that. What I would say is what matters is the choice.

Most of Sunday’s newspapers report on the upcoming March Budget, set to be delivered on Wednesday. 

“We don’t think we should be implementing certain tax cuts now, essentially that are paid for by uncertain spending cuts that might never be delivered,” IFS deputy director Carl Emmerson said.

The mysterious death of Alexei Navalny, Prince Harry’s possible return to the royal fold and speculation over a May general election make Sunday’s headlines.
