Ajax’s sporting director Sven Mislintat is urging Jurrien Timber to reject a move to Arsenal this summer, according to reports in the Netherlands.
The Gunners have submitted a £30 million bid to sign the centre-back and are hopeful that an agreement can be reached this summer.
However, Arsenal face competition from Bayern Munich, while Manchester United could reignite their interest after failing to sign the Ajax defender last year.
According to Algemeen Dagblad, Timber’s potential exit this summer is causing a ‘headache’ for Mislintat, who views the Netherlands international as a key part of the team.
The report claims that Mislintat has already told Timber and his agent, Christoffer Coffie, that the defender is viewed as a vital part of Ajax’s rebuild and considers him as one of the leaders in the squad next season.

Mislintat, who spent 14 months as Arsenal’s head of recruitment, was appointed as Ajax’s sporting director earlier this month.
Meanwhile, Timber has already indicated that he could be on the move this summer.

When asked if there is an update regarding his future at Ajax, Timber told Vandaag Inside earlier this month: ‘No, that’s always the case around this time of year.
‘Unfortunately, I can’t say much about it yet. I don’t mean there’s nothing going on, but I can’t tell you anything yet.’
