Rishi Sunak will be taking the latest Jilly Cooper bonkbuster to bed this Christmas, he revealed.
The Prime Minister was sent a signed copy by the author after telling all about his life-long passion for her raunchy romps.
Tackle! is billed as a tale of scandals, sabotage and seductions in the world of football.
“If you want to score, you’ve got to be a player,” according to the cover.
Mr Sunak told The Spectator: “It is literally on my bedside table.”
“This is the first year in a long time that I have actually read some fiction, I read these lovely books, which is good escapism for me.”
Mr Sunak denied being “tetchy” after claims he can become irritable when things do not go his way.
“I don’t understand that,’ he said and refers back to the tough time he had during the Tory leadership campaign.
“That wasn’t an easy time for me, I was taking a lot of criticism and flak.
“But I just fought hard for what I believed in – every day, seven days a week for six weeks.”
“I’m the same person now, I am fighting for the things I believe in. There’s nothing tetchy. But I am passionate.”
“When things are not working the way I want them to work, of course I’m going to be frustrated.”
