Karen Hauer’s ex-husband has spoken out following their marriage split, claiming Strictly Come Dancing had a role to play in them divorcing.
Reports first surfaced that the dancer – who is the longest-serving pro on Strictly – and Jordan Wyn-Jones had parted ways last month after marrying in summer 2022.
It was previously claimed the pair were having a ‘tough time’, but assured there was ‘no ill will’ between them.
While Karen is yet to address her divorce, Jordan has now said he is ‘incredibly sad’ over how things ended.
Speaking to The Mail on Sunday, Jordan, 34, shared how hard it was for him and Karen to be apart as she trained for Strictly and travelled with the live tour.
‘It’s a bit of a love story, a sad story,’ he said. ‘I’m incredibly sad not to be in Karen’s life, and not be on this journey with her but we’re not right for each other in terms of her career.

‘I will always admire her for her career but it took her away from me a lot. She’d be away and I’d be at home on my own.’
Jordan – who wed Karen in a dreamy ceremony at Chewton Glen Country House Hotel in the New Forest – said there were ‘tears on both sides’ when he and Karen accepted that their marriage was over.
‘A lot of tears and sadness. We didn’t want to let go of each other but we’re also not right for each other.’
Jordan added that he would’ve ‘ended up resenting’ Karen if they had stayed together and not had children.
‘This is the perfect moment for us to love each other and leave each other.’
Insisting they are ‘going to remain friends’, Jordan detailed how not starting a family was central to their relationship’s demise.
As Karen remained committed to her work on Strictly, she and Jordan would clash over their plans for the future, with the Venezuelan dancer travelling constantly as their marriage became ‘a series of video and phone calls’.

Jordan had dreamed of having kids but was alerted by a pal to a magazine interview Karen did in which his wife said she didn’t know if she wanted children.
‘Karen’s dedicated to her career, which she has worked really hard for. She’s amazing and I admire her for it. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to marry her – because of how powerful she is,’ he praised.
‘But we wanted different things. There was a plan about having children but then there wasn’t a plan.’
He said the pair ‘discussed’ having children when they first met, claiming Karen said she wanted them to become parents.
However, in a later interview, she said that ‘kids aren’t the future’, which made Jordan ‘sad’.
‘I wouldn’t say it was a shock but I knew subconsciously in the back of my head… why would she want to have a child with me?

‘I’d become vacant in our relationship. I was loving and so caring for her but I was vacant because of the situation that we found ourselves in.’
Jordan met up with Karen eight weeks ago to discuss the comments she made in the interview, by which point they knew their marriage had run its course.
Wishing her the best for the future, he stated that they are not in the process of divorcing and that there is ‘nothing to fight over’.
‘Karen has a lot of work on and she’s career-driven,’ he said sweetly.
‘That’s ok but I need a different type of support in a partner. I’m not saying she didn’t support me because she did, but she just wasn’t around.’
