‘Jordan Ayew’s ‘annual league goal’ makes new Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner grin’

Jordan Ayew has opened up the Oliver Glasner era – netting Crystal Palace’s only goal in a 1-1 draw with Everton on Monday evening.

Glasner, 49, was in attendance for the Eagles after they parted ways with Roy Hodgson, 76, earlier in the day. And Ayew, 32, was the man to break the deadlock at Goodison Park as the two sides battled for a crucial three points.

Ayew had the Palace fans on their feet when he hammered the ball home from the edge of the area. And cameras quickly panned to the crowd where Glasner could be seen grinning at the goal.

‘Pep Guardiola apologises to Kalvin Phillips over weight comments after mum ‘wasn’t happy’

Pep Guardiola has apologised to Kalvin Phillips for calling him overweight in public.

Guardiola outed Phillips after the England midfielder returned to the Etihad from the World Cup in Qatar out of shape. Phillips, who has joined West Ham on-loan until the end of the season, admitted the remarks knocked his confidence and upset his family.

Rival fans have since mocked Phillips over his weight issue. And Guardiola has now admitted he was wrong to go public with his comments.

‘Newcastle release Dan Ashworth statement with sporting director set to join Man Utd’

Newcastle United have released a statement regarding Dan Ashworth, with the sporting director set to join Manchester United.

Ashworth had already been placed on gardening leave by the Magpies after reports linked him to INEOS’ new-look Red Devils. And Newcastle have now confirmed in a statement that he’s leaving and seemingly heading towards Old Trafford.

Darren Eales, Newcastle United’s CEO, said: “We are naturally disappointed that Dan has chosen to leave, however our exciting journey doesn’t stop and the process to recruit a new sporting director will begin immediately.
