Stanley Tucci has opened up more on his private cancer battle, crediting his wife Felicity Blunt with saving his life for dragging him ‘kicking and screaming’ to his treatment appointments.
The Devil Wears Prada actor was diagnosed with oral cancer in 2017 after doctors found a three-centimetre tumour on the back of his tongue.
It was too big to operate on, which left radiation and chemotherapy as the only treatment options available.
‘It was terrifying. My first wife died of cancer so when I got it, I was completely shocked,’ the Citadel star, 62, shared.
He was married to late wife Kate Spath-Tucci from 1995 until her death from breast cancer in 2009, with the actor and Searching For Italy presenter revealing that they had ‘travelled all over the world trying to find a cure for her’.
When it came to his own battle, the options were ‘brutal’ Stanley shared – but his second wife, literary agent Felicity Blunt, was right there to pull him through.

The actor told Willie Geist on Sunday Sitdown: ‘Luckily it hadn’t metastasised, but the treatments were brutal. I lost 35 pounds. I couldn’t eat. I had a feeding tube for six months and everything tasted like you-know-what and smelled like you-know-what.
‘I was so afraid, but Felicity was very insistent. I mean they had to drag me, kicking and screaming, but now, I wouldn’t be around if I hadn’t done that [treatment].’
‘She was incredible. Still is incredible,’ he added.

Stanley previously said his cancer is ‘unlikely’ to return but admitted that going through it made him change his perspective on life.
‘[Cancer] makes you more afraid and less afraid at the same time,’ he told Vera magazine in 2021.
‘I feel much older than I did before I was sick. But you still want to get ahead and get things done.’
