Gogglebox star Ellie Warner’s boyfriend Nat Eddleston was left in critical condition after he was hit by a car and the person responsible has been spared jail.
The driver Declan Anderson was speeding when his car collided with Nat outside a pub in Leeds last year.
Nat was thrown off the bonnet and into the air while walking home from the pub with friends. He was left with a broken neck, an injured back, bruised lungs, and brain nerve fibre damage.
The father-of-one was placed on a life support machine and spent 11 days in intensive care. He was later fitted with a surgical halo brace.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson confirmed in a statement at the time: ‘The pedestrian remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.’
Anderson has now been given a three-year driving ban, 20 days of probation rehabilitation, and a two-year suspended sentence after admitting to causing serious injury through dangerous driving, reports the Daily Mail.
The Seat Ibiza controlled by Anderson was speeding at more than 40mph on a 30mph road on March 18, 2022, shortly after midnight. His girlfriend was in the passenger seat.

Witnesses claimed the car swerved onto the wrong side of the road. Leeds Crown Court was told that the windscreen shattered and its roof collapsed. Nat is still in recovery from the accident and has undergone speech therapy, the court heard.
Passing sentence, Judge Ray Singh said: ‘You have shown genuine remorse for the victim in this case.
‘It points to a mistake of a young man having made a terrible momentary misjudgement by driving dangerously. I find it baffling that you then speed once again.
‘That is not going to be tolerated in the future. The injuries you caused were life-threatening and the harm is continuing.’
After the accident, Ellie, who stars on Gogglebox with her older sister Izzi, took time away from the programme to support him.
The fan-favourite siblings who have won over viewers with their epic snack selection and one-liners since joining the show in 2015 took two months off from filming in total, finally returning in May last year.

That same month he was seen he was seen out and about wearing a neck brace for support – while Ellie asked people to donate to a cause close to her heart for her birthday last year, in the wake of his accident.
She said: ‘For my birthday this year, I’m asking for donations to Headway – the brain injury association
‘I’ve chosen this charity because their mission means a lot to me, and I hope that you’ll consider contributing as a way of celebrating with me.’
Ellie and Nat, who have previously appeared on Gogglebox too, welcomed their first child together last summer.
Announcing the arrival of their son, the 33-year-old wrote on Instagram: ‘Sweet baby Ezra 💛 he has made our lives complete 🥰 we love you so much son.’
