Spain v England – The European Championship final
Most of Sunday’s front pages lead with England’s upcoming European Championship final against Spain.
The UK newspapers had gone to print before the news of the assassination attempt on former U.S. President Donald Trump. As a result, the newspapers have no coverage but the online websites are all dominated by the ordeal. The gunman has been shot dead. Trump suffered a shot to the ear – he has since been discharged from hospital. At least one other person, who was in the audience, was shot and killed.
Spain v England – Euros final!
The Sunday Mirror features a large image of Captain Harry Kane with the headline “Date with Destiny.” “We Kane do it”, the Sunday Express says alongside the same photo of Kane.
The Mail on Sunday leads on a message from Prince William who calls on the squad to make “just one last push to finish the job” against Spain in Berlin.
“Roar for the Lions” is the rallying cry in the Daily Star’s Sunday edition. Everything stops at 20:00 BST on Sunday as the nation cheers on the boys, the paper says.
The Sunday Telegraph features an image from inside the England training camp. It reports on Prince William’s message for the team to ‘show the world what you’re made of.’
The Observer also uses an image from the training camp with the headline: “We’re ready”. The paper has 12 pages of previews and analysis.
The Sunday Times notes that supporters are spending thousands on tickets and making their way to Berlin for tonight’s final.
