Sort Your Life Out blasted as ‘tone-deaf’ after family break record with 6,000 clothes

BBC viewers have been left raging over an ‘insane’ episode of Sort Your Life Out, blasting it as ‘tone-deaf’.

Stacey Solomon’s decluttering series returned on Tuesday night, as she was joined by her husband Joe Swash, stepping in for Dilly Carter, and her team of organisers to help a family from Coventry.

However, little did they know they’d be embarking on a record-breaking project, as once all the household items were stripped out and placed in a warehouse, they came to discover that the woman whose home they were transforming, Sheeny, owned a shocking number of clothes.

The family of five were forced to empty out their house entirely, packing all their possessions into boxes before deciding what to sell, donate and keep.

The four-bedroom house was covered in clothes (some brand new with the price tags still on), with every counterspace used up and items spilling out of wardrobes and cupboards, to the point where Sheeny nor her husband Sohan knew what was their own.

‘It’s organised chaos,’ EastEnders actor Joe said upon walking into the house. ‘There must be 500 pair of shoes, most of them never worn.’

Sheeny meanwhile admitted the clutter throughout all of their home was affecting their relationship as a family, vowing: ‘It’s time for a change.’

She was even more determined when she realised how many items she’d actually accumulated after 20 years of living in their house.

Stacey and her team had counted 437 pairs of shoes, 39 phone chargers, over 1,000 kitchen utensils including 50 pots and pans, 28 suitcases and a record-breaking number of clothes.

‘You have 6,568 items of clothing,’ she revealed. ‘It is the most clothes we’ve ever seen.’

Viewers were stunned at the immense number of items the family had accumulated over the year.

‘This #sortyourlifeout is absolutely tone deaf,’ one viewer, Rachel, wrote on X.

After seeing how many of the items still had their price tags on, Sara added: ‘All that money that she’s wasted is just insane.’

‘This is the worst one ever I’d just leave them all to it,’ Annie wrote.

‘omg this is insane!!!’ Vicki added.

By the end of two days of decluttering, the family managed to cut their record-breaking belongings by over 40%.

‘It just feels amazing, it feels like a home. I could never in my wildest dreams have thought this was possible,’ Sheeny said after the big reveal.

Admitting she’d even doubted herself after seeing how much there was to declutter, Stacey added: ‘I doubted whether we could actually achieve what we wanted to achieve. But we got there, I’m so, so proud of us.’

Sort Your Life Out with Stacey Solomon airs Tuesdays at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
