The Fire at Blackpool Tower erupted earlier today
Some of the biggest names in soaps and TV have been used to convey the shock from sarcastic Brits after the Blackpool Tower went up in flames earlier today.
Videos of the fire have emerged across social media, showing a blaze at the top of the iconic landmark.
Fire engines have rushed to the site, with a spokesperson urging the public to keep away from the area.
Many on Twitter have reacted to the news in the most British way possible – by sharing gifs of epic TV moments, including Hyacinth Bucket, Gemma Collins and Coronation Street’s Rita to depict their devastation.
We wouldn’t expect anything less.
One user posted a video showing Alan Partridge as crisis correspondent Spartacus Mills declared that the ‘history books will have to be rewritten’ over the blaze.

Another fan shared a clip from Coronation Street of the moment Rita Sullivan got herself into a tizz, before being comforted by Bet Lynch.
Many took the opportunity to post videos of the iconic Peggy Mitchell in EastEnders, as the Queen Vic burned in front of her.
‘I have some terrible news about the Blackpool Tower,’ a follower wrote, alongside a screenshot of Bart and Lisa Simpson begging: ‘Not the Blackpool Tower!’
An upset commenter posted a gif of a shocked Gemma Collins from Celebrity Big Brother, fuming: ‘Blackpool Tower on fire? This cruel year delivering one evil final blow.’
Emergency services arrived on the scene immediately
Uploading a video of the fire, one added: ‘Right, who had Blackpool Tower on fire for their 2023 sweepstakes?’

Visitors were evacuated from the monument, after it is thought to have erupted into flames at around 2.15pm.
Traffic issues have already been reported nearby, as a specialist climbing team arrived at the scene.
6 fire engines were on the scene as the Blackpool Tower was engulfed in flames
A Lancashire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: ‘We have 6 fire engines, the drone team and the rope rescue team currently in attendance at a fire on Promenade, Blackpool.
‘There may be significant disruption so please stay away from the area.
‘The drone team are in operation so please do not fly drones in the area as you may obstruct emergency operation.’
