While Boris Johnson has been the subject of a slew of scandals, he still has a supporter in Sir Rod Stewart.
Shortly after quitting as an MP, Johnson was found by the Privileges Committee to have deliberately misled Parliament over a number of lockdown parties in Downing Street when he was prime minister.
He is said to have misled the Commons on five different accounts, the 108-page and 30,000-word report revealed.
While some celebrities, including Carol Vorderman, who begged for a general election, have expressed their outrage over the findings and successive government failures, including Liz Truss tanking the economy, Sir Rod has been more forgiving.
On Thursday’s Sky News, the Maggie May singer said: ‘Well, I was and still am a bit of a fan of Boris because I think he’s got wonderful charisma.’
The pop icon has previously blasted the current government , calling for them to ‘stand down and give the Labour party a go,’ after hearing ‘heartbreaking’ stories from NHS patients.
Shocked at the length of waiting lists for vital operations and scan, Sir Rod pledged and delivered on his promise to pay for treatments at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, Essex.
More to follow.
