Sir Paul Mccartney is returning to Australia for a tour later this year.

For the first time since 2017, Sir Paul, 81, will put on six shows Down Under in October and November from Sydney to Adelaide.

The Beatles legend took to social media to reveal the news to his fans with a video announcement on YouTube.

‘Hey, G’day Australia. Paul McCartney here, I’m coming down to see you in October with my Got Back tour,’ he said.

The star said he was ‘very excited to come down and see all you Aussies’ and promised fans that they’re set to ‘have a great time, it’s going to be really special and we’re going to rock.’

‘I’ve got so many amazing memories of my time in Australia over the years,’ Sir Paul said in a statement via Billboard.

‘Our last trip was so much fun. We had such an incredible time. Each show was a party so we know this is going to be incredibly special. Australia we are going to rock! I can’t wait to see you.’

Despite being in his 80s, the music superstar has proven time and time again that he’s still got it, with no signs of slowing down.

With lengthy shows such as his headline Glastonbury set in 2022, which lasted almost three hours, his time on stage certainly isn’t over yet.

Joining Sir Paul on the road is his longtime band, Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums).

The announcement comes just days after the star hinted on his Twitter that an international tour is on the cards.

Buzz started that Sir Paul would be venturing to the land down under when Australian tour company Frontier teased with pictures on its socials of billboards using McCartney’s branding and song titles.

It’ll be the singer’s first time back on stage since his Glasto set in 2022. He was last on tour in Oz in 2017, having previously put on shows in 1964 with The Beatles, then later in 1975 and 1993 with Wings.
