Severed arm and leg found hidden in bushes near prison | UK News

A severed arm and leg have been found hidden in bushes near a prison in Thamesmeade, it has been reported.

The human remains were found by a member of the public on Sewell Road and Eastern Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.

This is just a short walk away from HMP Isis, which also holds young offenders.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed ‘enquiries are ongoing’.

They said: ‘Police were called at 12:36hrs on Wednesday, 6 November to reports of suspected human remains/bones at Sewell Road, Thamesmead.

‘A cordon has been put in place while forensic officers examine the item and establish its origins.

    ‘Enquiries are ongoing.’

It comes as a decapitated head was found on Halloween in Edinburgh.

Police said a 74-year-old man died after being hit by a single-decker in Cowgate just before 7.30pm on Saturday.

The circumstances of the collision are under investigation but witnesses out celebrating Halloween mistook the head for a prop.

A receptionist working in hotel near where the incident happened told Metro she heard about what happened after arriving at work this morning, when a colleague told her a human head had been found.

She said: ‘I work in the building across the street; I haven’t heard much but I’m just in shock.’

Chief Inspector Trisha Clark said: ‘We are aware of videos and images circulating on social media which are causing distress to the deceased’s family and those viewing them inadvertently.

‘We would ask members of the public not to share them out of respect for his family, and to report them to the relevant social media platform to prevent further circulation.

‘There has been a lot of speculation, and I would like to reassure the local community that this was an isolated incident and there is no risk to the wider public.

‘This was a tragic incident. We are investigating a crash, and our road policing officers, assisted by local officers, are continuing to carry out enquiries.’
