There wasn’t a dry eye in the Saturday Night Takeaway studio during an emotional adoption proposal.
Ant and Dec were back to their usual antics on the beloved ITV programme, which also featured This Country’s Daisy May Cooper.
As well as handing out prizes both their live audience and people watching along at home, including tickets on a flight for an upcoming holiday to Florida, the duo set up a heartwarming moment.
They welcomed guests Rihanna and Nick, with the former having a ‘big question’ to ask the latter.
Explaining she had ‘never had a father figure,’ Rihanna asked Nick if he would adopt her.
Bursting into tears, Nick immediately replied: ‘Yes’, adding: ‘It means everything, she’s an absolute diamond. It’s priceless.’
Dec remarked it was a ‘very moving, beautiful’ moment, while Ant said: ‘It was an incredible privilege to be part of it.’
Even Daisy was overwhelmed by the touching proposition, saying she was ’emotional’ after witnessing the proposal.
Her sentiments were echoed by Saturday Night Takeaway viewers with one writing on Twitter: ‘Just cried my eyes out at #SaturdayNightTakeaway at the adoption proposal. Makes me miss my dad so much but at the same time I’ve never been short of father figures so despite this huge loss I’m still so lucky.’
A fan added: ‘I’m a mess. A blubbering mess,’ while another remarked: ‘Properly crying at the adoption question on #SaturdayNightTakeaway. Beautiful.’
