S Club member Bradley McIntosh couldn’t hide his smile as he recalled a memory from the band’s heyday while chatting about reunion plans and the beginning of rehearsals.
The 41-year-old pop singer – alongside fellow artists Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Jo O’Meara and Rachel Stevens – is gearing up to head out on the road again with the 90s nostalgia phenomena that rose to fame for its bouncy bops and much-loved TV series.
Reassuring fans their tour shows would be as ‘epic’ as ever, he couldn’t help but mention his late band member and friend Paul Cattermole – who died suddenly last April following multiple heart issues, aged 46.
Bradley was explaining what the adoring S Club fans could expect from their upcoming arena performances when he remembered one particular prop that caused the band a bit of bother.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk ahead of his collaboration with Hasbro and its Transformers Rise of the Beast toys, the star said: ‘I can’t say too much because it’s a little bit under wraps at the moment – but I can tell you that it’s gonna be epic.
‘Rehearsals are underway. We are coming up with some great ideas and we’re gonna put in a lot of hard work to make this an amazing tour.’

He continued sharing his recollections of the last time he went out on the road: ‘If you’ve seen some of the previous tours that we’ve done over the years, they’ve always been on a really big scale.
‘We had big walkways that came over the top of the fans we walked out to. We had a Chevvy that was on stage with us one time that, I mean… literally there was no room for error because Paul was driving the car and it was this much space just to turn the car.
‘Who brings a car on stage on tour, you know, but so we have to keep that bar, we have to keep it at gold standard!’
Aside from the obvious, a lot has changed for each of the members over the last 25 years and for Bradley in particular – welcoming his son Kairo, six, posed a new set of challenges as he reframed his mind to process another stint in the music industry.

He shared that he was excited to show his little boy the ropes and explained the band were eager to encourage fans to bring their own children along for the adventure.
‘I can’t wait for him to see it because like he knows, but he doesn’t really, really know.
‘He doesn’t really know to what scale. So when he comes to the show, he’s gonna see all the fans and I think it’s just gonna kind of open his mind but he is very proud.
‘But in terms of balancing being busy with S Club, I think my misses understands the mission and she understands that it’s gonna be very, very busy.’
He carried on highlighting that the band want to introduce a new generation of children to their 90s bangers.
‘We’d love if our fans – that grew up with us – could bring their kids along and introduce them to our music.
‘There’s room for the kids to get into the nineties, you know?’
Continuing on a running theme of nostalgia, Bradley admitted his vices when he was small and if it wasn’t music he was listening to it was Transformer toys that were occupying his time.
He urged that he wanted to re-introduce spending uninterrupted quality time with kids and so jumped at the chance to work with the famous film franchise.
‘Growing up as a kid, that was my thing. If you had said, “Just tell me one thing that you were obsessed about when you were a kid,” it was Transformers.
‘You can learn so much from your kids, especially by introducing them to stuff that you used to play with when you were a kid.
‘You don’t want to miss out on those younger years with your kids.’
