Ryanair flight to Manchester engulfed in ‘chaos’ after man suddenly dies mid-air | UK News

A Ryanair flight was forced to make an emergency landing at London Stansted after a passenger died on board.

Chaos engulfed the plane travelling from Albania’s capital of Tirana to Manchester Airport on Sunday evening when a man suffered a ‘medical emergency’ mid-air.

Paramedics, police and an air ambulance met the aircraft after it was diverted to the capital.

Nothing could be done to save the man, whose identity has not been confirmed, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

One witness said the victim started ‘having convulsions’ on his seat before he was moved to the aisle, the Manchester Evening News reported.

They said a number of passengers trained in first aid sprung into action as soon as the medical emergency started.

‘He stopped breathing and everything went into chaos,’ they said.

‘A few of us with first aid training jumped in to help and started CPR while the defibrillator was set.’

The passenger said two air crew members and three passengers continued doing CPR as instructed by the defibrillator for 25 minutes.

They added: ‘The paramedics continued for another 30 minutes when we were all instructed to leave the plane.

‘After about another hour, the ambulance was still there but we boarded again with a new air crew to continue the trip to Manchester, without the man and his friends. I asked and was told that, unfortunately, the man did not make it.’

According to live tracker Flightradar24, the plane travelled past Italy, Switzerland and France before landing in London.
