Ryan Gravenberch has asked to leave Bayern Munich this week following interest from Manchester United and Liverpool, according to reports in Germany.
The 21-year-old joined Bayern last year in a €18.5 million (£16m) deal from Ajax but was unable to secure a regular role in his first season in Germany.
Both United and Liverpool are looking to strengthen their midfield options before Friday’s transfer deadline and have held talks with Gravenberch’s representatives.
According to Sport1, Gravenberch’s management team have told Bayern that the midfielder wants to leave the club before the transfer window closes.
The report claims that Bayern have not received a concrete offer for the Netherlands international but the Bundesliga champions are now open to a deal having previously ruled out a move earlier this summer.

Liverpool remain in the market for a new central midfielder and have held extensive talks with Gravenberch’s representatives over the last few months.
However, Jurgen Klopp will face strong competition from Manchester United, who could hold a key advantage as Erik ten Hag has already worked with the midfielder at Ajax.
Bayern are also exploring the possibility of signing Scott McTominay, which could open the door for Gravenberch to move in the opposite direction to Old Trafford.

Speaking in June, Gravenberch made it clear that he would look to leave Bayern if he did not receive more playing opportunities.
‘I expected to play more minutes than I did. I thought I would get some more chances,’ Gravenberch told ESPN.
‘It’s about just wanting to play, that’s the most important thing at my age.
‘I hope this can happen at Bayern Munich, otherwise we’ll just have to look further.
‘I told everyone that I don’t want another year like that. Of course you can’t always be in the starting XI, but you can still play regularly, you can get a lot of minutes.’
