Ruth Langsford broke down in tears on Tuesday’s Loose Women, discussing the death of pets and imagining the heartbreaking end to her beloved pup’s life.
The 63-year-old and her husband Eamonn Holmes have rescue dog Maggie, who means a great deal to them, Ruth explained.
Discussing pet owners grieving over the death of their pets, Ruth burst into tears, leaving Coleen Nolan, Frankie Bridge and Janet Street-Porter consoling her.
Watching a scene from Coronation Street, she began: ‘My little Maggie, is probably about 13, anyway, look at her there…’
Ruth couldn’t continue any longer, as Coleen took over while she wiped away her tears.

A moment later, she continued: ‘You know that hopefully, in the grand scheme of things, you know that pet is going to go before you.
‘And that’s heartbreaking, so I think that’s why that storyline, and looking at Maggie, she’s a bit grey now, she’s 13ish because she’s a rescue dog.’
‘That is going to happen,’ Ruth continued, before beginning to sob again.
Fellow Loose Women star Linda Robson has previously revealed that she has her pets and relative’s ashes in her knicker drawer, along with ‘everything that’s precious’ to her.

The Birds of a Feather actress admitted: ‘I’ve got lots of people and animals’ ashes in my knicker drawer.’
‘I’ve got little bags of ashes from George and from Ernie [her late dogs] and from other members of the family,’ she continued.

‘They’re in little packets,’ Linda added, saying the packets are named with labels to stop her getting ‘the ashes mixed up.’
Next to the ashes, Linda keeps precious items from her children: ‘The little bracelets when they’re born, the first lock of their hair, their teeth…’
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
