Russian general killed in Moscow bombing
Lt. Gen. Igor Kirillov, head of Russia’s Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Defence Forces, was killed by a bomb in Moscow on Tuesday. The device, hidden in a scooter, exploded as Kirillov and an assistant left an apartment building in southeast Moscow, about four miles from the Kremlin.
Russian media reports the bomb was remotely detonated and contained around 300g of explosives. The blast caused significant damage, shattering windows and scattering rubble at the scene.
Kirillov was recently charged by Ukraine’s Security Service for using banned chemical weapons during the conflict and had been sanctioned by Western nations, including the UK, for his role in deploying what were described as “barbaric weapons.”
Igor Kirillov, the head of the military's nuclear, chemical and biological defense forces, has died in an explosion likely from a bomb on a scooter outside his Moscow house.
