Roy Keane has slammed Mohamed Salah for his reaction to getting substituted in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Sunday.
Salah provided a superb pass for Luis Diaz’s opening goal at Stamford Bridge but Chelsea earned a point through Axel Disasi’s equaliser before half time.
But Liverpool’s talisman was left fuming with 13 minutes remaining as Jurgen Klopp opted to replace him with Ben Doak.
Salah furiously his hand tape wrapping to the ground as he walked off the pitch but Keane believes the 31-year-old should have kept his frustration in check.
‘It’s okay to be upset, but don’t keep it up for too long,’ Keane told Sky Sports.
‘He was shaking his head on the bench and his arms were up in the air.
‘Sit down and shut up. Listen, you have to take it. We’ve seen better players than Salah get taken off and it’s part of the game.’
Jurgen Klopp insists Mohamed Salah’s reaction was ‘absolutely okay’ (Getty)
Meanwhile, Klopp insists that Salah’s reaction to being substituted was ‘absolutely okay’.
‘I can understand because if Mo scored it would have been a new record for goals scored in the opening game but I didn’t think about that. We needed stability and we needed fresh legs,’ Klopp said.
‘It was super intense for everybody. That’s all I can say about it, his reaction was absolutely okay.
‘When I sub a player and he is jumping in to my arms at 1-1 and he is a striker who thinks he will score, I would be really surprised so that’s absolutely fine.’
