Rosamund Pike was ‘punched in the face’ and had her mobile phone snatched out of her hand by a ‘mugger’ on a bicycle in a terrifying incident.

The James Bond star, 46, has revealed how she faced ’15 minutes’ of hell when she was targeted by the thief while she was on the phone.

Pike said she ‘screamed in terror’ while on the phone with her mum, opera singer Caroline Friend, who was left fearing the worst.

The Gone Girl star told Magic Radio: ‘I was on the phone to my mother — on a mobile phone walking along a road — and I was mugged.

‘The phone was snatched so all she heard was me scream and a thud and the phone went dead.’

She said the ‘mugger’ sped past her on a bicycle and punched her down the side of her cheek.

The film star ran to a pub and borrowed a phone from a friend.

Speaking of her mum, who was on the other end of the phone, Pike said: ‘For her, it was probably a pretty horrible 15 minutes.’

Pike isn’t the first celebrity who has been mugged in a terrifying incident, after Strictly Come Dancing star Annabel Croft was left ‘screaming’ during a horror ordeal.

Croft, 57, revealed on This Morning to Cat Deeley and Ben Shepherd that she went into shock after her phone was stolen by a masked man on a bike while she was waiting for a taxi in London at night.

‘I was screaming all bits and pieces, I couldn’t tell you what came out of my mouth, it’s all a bit of a blur.’ she said.

‘It totally traumatised me, I went into shock afterwards with the shakes,’ she revealed. ‘It happened all so quickly.’

The former British tennis player, took to her Instagram to share her story, writing: ‘I just wanted to warn people who are on their own in London. I just got mugged waiting for a taxi outside King’s Cross St Pancras,’ she said.

She recalled that the thief had a covered face and was riding a bike when the incident took place.’The man was riding a bike and wearing a black balaclava. He rode straight at me and took my phone clean out of my hands.’

London areas with the highest rate of pickpocketing:

    Westminster – 133.21 per 1,000 residents

    Camden – 31.41 per 1,000 residents

    Southwark – 19.03 per 1,000 residents

Kensington and Chelsea – 18.86 per 1,000 residents

    Hackney – 14.67 per 1,000 residents

    Islington – 12.8 per 1,000 residents

    Lambeth – 10.87 per 1,000 residents

    Newham – 10.65 per 1,000 residents

    Tower Hamlets – 9.23 per 1,000 residents

    Haringey – 9.04 per 1,000 residents

Figures have shown that a phone is stolen every six minutes in the English capital with only 2% recovered. Fortunately, the star was able to get her property back.

‘He rode away with it but luckily dropped my phone so I got it back. Terrifying!

‘On a positive note, there are some lovely people out there. Luckily a lovely gentleman witnessed it and came over to help me. Thank you to whoever you are,’ she told the Daily Mail.
