Sylvester Stallone has expressed his sorrow following the death of his ‘dear friend’ and Rocky co-star Burt Young at the age of 83.
The Escape to Victory actor, 77, starred alongside Young in a total of six films in the popular Rocky franchise. who starred alongside the late actor in a total of six films in the Rocky franchise.
The Oscar-nominated star’s death – which occurred on October 8 in Los Angeles – was confirmed by his daughter, Anne Morea Steingieser, to the New York Times.
Stallone shared a black and white snap on Instagram of him and Young on set of the boxing film.
He penned: ‘To my Dear Friend, BURT YOUNG, you were an incredible man’s and artist, I and the World will miss you very much…RIP.’
Several people on Instagram honouring Young’s memory in heartfelt messages, with one person commenting: ‘RIP Pauly! An amazing actor. You will be missed Burt!’

Another added: ‘Oh my gosh I just found out. I’m sorry to hear to this. It’s so sad. Rest In Peace Burt.’
A third replied: ‘This is such sad news. I had the great honor of meeting him briefly here in Philly, he was the kindest man. Rest in peace, Burt. My kids and I will always cherish the joy you brought to our lives.’
Young starred in various projects, but rose to stardom when he played the character of Paulie Pennino in the Rocky franchise.

The late star made his on-camera debut in a 1969 episode of The Doctors and from there he continued acting on film and TV throughout the 70s.
He was nominated for a best supporting actor at the 1977 Oscars for his role in Rocky, whichwent on to win three gongs.
Young’s acting credits include The Sopranos, Walker, Texas Ranger, Miami Vice, and the Rodney Dangerfield comedy Back to School.
